Golden threads of friendship by Madelaine Empson

Brekkie is the most important meal of the day, so load up on the perfect porridge – not too hot, not too cold, just right – and head to Tararua Tramping Club in Mount Victoria from the 23rd to the 30th of September for your favourite childhood fable, Goldilocks. KidzStuff Theatre for Children is putting a new spin on the old classic these school holidays, so get set for a modern, fun, silly, and sweet story the whole family will love.

Miss Goldilocks is a city girl through and through. In fact, she’s a social media influencer. When she visits her family in the country, she reckons it doesn’t pass the vibe check. She loves it even less when she can’t get a darn WiFi signal!

In the countryside is Baby Bear, who feels a little out of place himself. Back where he’s from in America, there are lots of bears. But this is New Zealand, and everyone here is scared of him. Plus, his parents are super sneaky, someone seems to be following them around, and the forest furniture keeps going missing…

Written by Amalia Calder, directed by Adam Koveskali, and starring Haydn Carter and Jackson Burling, Goldilocks is brimming with physical humour, theatrical tricks, mischievous antics, and song and dance galore. Underneath it all, the play stitches together a golden-locked thread of belonging, of being who we are, and the wonders of friendship.
