Two GOATs, one night by Madelaine Empson
On November the 22nd 2025, Tool played an enthralling two-hour set at Spark Arena, Auckland. Of course, the gig was sold out, the crowd was at capacity, and the atmosphere was rapturous.
If you missed the real deal and need your fix, or just want to rock out with like-minded fans, Insecure Delusion: A Tribute to Tool is offering you the chance to live vicariously with and through them when they take over San Fran on the 16th of January. The night will kick off at 8:30pm with an explosive opening set from Down With the System, who’ll deliver an epic lineup of System of a Down’s best and most beloved tracks before Insecure Delusion takes the stage at 9:30pm to unleash a powerhouse performance of Tool’s greatest hits.
“We know it’s a bit crazy to be playing a tribute set so soon after the real deal has been in the country, but that’s how much we love playing these songs,” band member Mark Earl says. “We grew up on Tool, and it’s amazing to hang out with people who share that same passion. Playing their music live is our way of connecting with fans who are just as obsessed as we are.”
Those fans have sung (read: shouted) Insecure Delusion’s praises from the rooftops.
“I was completely blown away by the tightness and musicality of these guys. All showcased amazing versatility on their chosen instruments”, Micheal writes, while Rion saw them twice in Napier. “They’re absolutely in keeping with Tool – powerful vocals, a fantastic drummer, and an all-round tight, talented group of guys. Great energy, great music, and genuinely good people.”
Let these tight musicians take you on a full-throttle journey through The Pot, Stinkfist, Forty Six & 2, and more tracks that made Tool a cult phenomenon.
