One of New Zealand’s most prolific comedians, Snap amassed a stack of awards and a bunch of critical acclaim before gradually becoming known for his number of cats and likelihood of dying alone. He has thus deemed himself a spinster.
“The major negative is a lack of human connection, but this is easily supplemented with cats,” Snap says. “On the positive side, alpha males no longer view me as a threat.”
Presenting a brand-new hour of superbly crafted gags at The Fringe Bar on the 30th and 31st of January, Snap explores his newfound self-determined status.
“Gotta write about what you know... I know loneliness and cats,” Snap sighs. “Also Bridget Jones inspired this show.”
The Ōtautahi-based undisputed head of The Church of Comedy started out in radio before trying his hand at stand-up. Since then, he tells Cityscape that he’s been desperately trying to build the Christchurch comedy scene so he doesn’t “have to move to Auckland”. Known for leaving his audiences roaring, Snap hopes that aside from laughs, his Fringe Bar cohorts leave with “a tremendous sense of wellbeing”.
As for your host, don’t worry too much about him, he has his cats.
“I have it on good authority that five cats is too many. I have four.”
