Raw energy by Alessia Belsito-Riera
Shift your Friday into overdrive at Wildkiwi Tribute Fest: a full-throttle burnout of chaos, distortion, and high-voltage music. Careening into Upper Hutt’s Wild Kiwi Distillery on the 29th of August, this tribute gig to the gods of rock, metal, punk, and industrial is revving up to be a wild ride.
Giving punk punters, metal heads, and hard rockers the chance to scream along to their favourite anthems, throw horns with the crowd, and tear it up with a lineup of local legends, Rail Records’ first annual WildKiwi Tribute Fest will deliver wall-to-wall riffs and reverberating rhythms.
Leading the charge are The Feeders paying tribute to Slipknot, while The Neverminds deliver world-reckoning reverberations from Nirvana. The Firestarters dropkick onto the stage with a setlist from The Prodigy, Marilyn Manson rises from the depths through the yowls of The Antichrist Superstar, and GreenGaze will lead you down the boulevard of broken dreams with hits and deep cuts from Green Day.
But that’s not all. Rounding out the rowdy, raucous reunion are heavyweights Kaosis [pictured] with a full-noise performance of their signature blend of metal, hip-hop, and electronic music that shatters genre boundaries, forges a unique sound, and leaves audiences breathless and Bacchic. Supporting it all are two of New Zealand’s top rock and metal DJs: nu metal enthusiast DJ ApenuT and grunge garbler DJ Subpop.
Rock out and rock on at WildKiwi Tribute Fest.
